Cornelia M. Post

Cornelia M. "Connie" Post, age 90, passed away on Monday, August 26 2024, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts. Born in New London, Connecticut on July 19, 1934, she was the only daughter of Francis and Eleanor (Crowley) Post. Connie graduated from Needham High School in 1952. After graduation, she attended college at Sacred Heart University before transferring to the University of New Hampshire and graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1956.

Connie was well ahead of her time and worked at the Chevrolet Division of General Motors as a Dealer Relationship Manager. At that time, the rest of the majority male workforce was not prepared for a driven, independent woman to shake things up and take charge. She worked at a variety of local car dealerships including Mercedes before retiring at 65 in 1999.

Connie was too immutable to stop work entirely, so she worked several odd jobs after her retirement including at a health food company. She volunteered to help organize several high school reunions for Needham High School, which she enjoyed immensely. She was able to give back to Walpole, her home of over 30 years, volunteering at Walpole Senior Center for several years as a receptionist to welcome and register new people and show them what the center offered.

In her free time, Connie was a lifelong learner. She continued taking courses, and got her Real Estate License, and passed her exam to become a paralegal. She was also an enthusiastic volunteer at the Walpole Senior Center. Mostly, she was an avid reader. She was always a welcome and friendly face to the Walpole librarians as she picked out a new mystery or fiction novel. Connie also got interested in beading and gifted her loved ones with beautiful handmade jewelry. Throughout her life, she was always working on something interesting. Connie’s steadfast and independent personality will be missed by all who knew her.
