Clara Lorraine Stanzin

May 6, 1925 — September 19, 2020

Clara Lorraine Stanzin, age 95, passed away peacefully in her Walpole, Massachusetts home on Saturday, September 19, 2020.  Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Brown) Weismann.  She was raised in Brooklyn, where following her high school graduation, Clara found work as an administrative assistant in the Empire State Building.

Clara married her beloved husband, Stanley M. Stanzin, on June 3, 1951, in the Transfiguration Church in Brooklyn.  Together, they made their home in Somers, Connecticut, before settling in Needham, Massachusetts, where Clara raised her family.  Being a mother was always most important to Clara, her warm and caring ways were always enjoyed by her daughters’ friends, who were always welcome in her home.  As a devoted mother, there was nothing she wouldn't do for her girls, including learning how to downhill ski in her 50s.  She spent countless hours volunteering her time with the Special Olympics, always encouraging her daughter, Laura.  Her efforts were noticed as she earned a Volunteer Award from the Charles River Center.  As her children grew up, Clara and Stan shared their love of boating in Boston Harbor with the many friends they met at the Savin Hill Yacht Club.  Clara was delighted at the birth of her grandchildren and loved attending their athletic competitions and school functions, just as she did with her own children.  More recently, in 2008, Clara made her home at New Pond Village in Walpole, where she made new, long lasting friendships with her fellow residents and staff members.

Clara will always be remembered for her kind and generous ways, putting the needs of others before her own.

Beloved wife of the late Stanley M. Stanzin.

Loving mother of Laura J. Stanzin of Danielson, Connecticut, Cathy S. Feeley and her husband, Kevin, of East Walpole, and Amy S. Mulvey and her husband, Kevin, of Falmouth.
Cherished grandmother of Matt Feeley, Hannah Feeley, Caroline Feeley, Sarah Feeley, Jessie Mulvey, Eric Mulvey, Connor Mulvey, and Hunter Mulvey.

As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Clara’s family has decided that her funeral services will be private with interment taking place in the Needham Cemetery.

Clara's twelve years at New Pond Village in Walpole have been nothing short of amazing because of the dedicated and caring staff, who she adored.  As a token of their appreciation, Clara's family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be considered to the New Pond Village Holiday Fund, which gives back to the staff at the end of every year.  Contributions may either be mailed to: The Holiday Fund, c/o Adam Manchester, 180 Main Street, Walpole, MA 0208, or made through http://gf.me/u/yzvx4z

Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, Walpole.
