Claire S. Brown

Claire S. (Snell) Brown, age 78, passed away in her Norfolk, Massachusetts home on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Born in Yonkers, New York on November 27, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Courtney A. and Jane R. (Kilbride) Snell. She was raised in the Washington Heights area of New York City and graduated from Academy of Holy Angels with the Class of 1957.

After graduation, Claire married J. David Kennedy and the couple made their home in New York, where they welcomed their three children, John, Jane, and Maureen. The family later settled in Reading, Massachusetts and Claire took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. Once her children were enrolled in school, Claire earned her Associates Degree in Nursing and took a position with New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham. Claire later worked in various long-term care facilities as the Director of Nursing for many years, while taking night classes to earn her Bachelor's Degree. She went on to take a job with Belmont Manor as the Director of Nursing and settled in Roslindale. After her retirement in 2007, Claire took a couple of years off but returned to work at the Marian Manor in South Boston, eventually retiring in 2012.

In her retirement, Claire enjoyed traveling and taking trips to the local casinos. Most of all she loved being surrounded by her family and especially enjoyed hosting pool parties for those she loved most.

Loving mother of John D. Kennedy and his wife Kori of Nashua, New Hampshire, Jane E. Kennedy and her husband Edward Bagley of Dorchester, and Maureen K. Daley and her husband John, Jr. of Norfolk.
Cherished grandmother of Eric Daley and his wife Kim of Franklin, Dean Kennedy of Nashua, Aren Kennedy of Nashua, and Abbie Bagley of Weymouth and great grandmother of Evan and Bennett Daley.
Former wife of John J. Brown of Whitman and J. David Kennedy of Cape Coral, Florida.
Sister of Frank Snell of Bogota, New Jersey and the late Candice Horman of Rockville, Maryland.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Claire's Life Celebration on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4-7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Jude Church, 86 Main Street, Norfolk on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Marian Manor, 130 Dorchester Street, South Boston, MA 02127.
