Chester L. Donnell

Chester L. Donnell, Jr age 90 years died in the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, Massachusetts on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts on February 18, 1919; he was the son of the late Chester L. and Vera (Hill) Donnell. He was a 1937 graduate of Walpole High School. Mr. Donnell served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. He has been a life long resident of Walpole, Massachusetts but enjoyed vacationing in Gray Gables.

He worked for the Walpole Fire Department for 45 years, becoming the Fire Chief before he retired.

Mr. Donnell was a member of the Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts as well as the Masons with the Azure Lodge in Walpole.

He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Beloved husband of the late Eleanor A. (Koebe) Donnell. Loving father of Brian S. Donnell of North Reading, Diantha J. Kroger of Mansfield, and George Fontana of North Reading. Cherished grandfather of Jeremy Kroger of Woodhaven, NY and Kendra Kroger of Taunton. Brother of the late Isabelle Thayer. Also survived by several nieces.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service that will be held in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
