Charlotte J. (Ollis) Oles, age 77, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on December 30, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Josephine E. (Masino) Ollis. Charlotte was raised in Norwood and graduated from Walpole High School in the mid-sixties. She greatly enjoyed music, spending time with friends, and shopping.
After graduation, Charlotte went to work for the New England Telephone Company as a switchboard operator, ensuring that people could talk to their families and friends both near and far. Charlotte split her time connecting callers at the company’s locations in Brockton and Cape Cod. She loved her time working on Cape Cod so much that she eventually decided to live in Hyannis during the summer months when she was needed there the most. On her days off from work Charlotte loved to relax on the cape’s various picturesque beaches where she could enjoy the fresh ocean air. She also loved to venture out and enjoyed the delicious seafood restaurants and local attractions.
Charlotte was politically active, becoming an avid supporter of the Kennedy family. She followed and participated in the family’s various campaigns and was proud to see her local politicians serve both her state and country. Her involvement with the Kennedy campaigns also motivated her to become active with the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Charlotte enjoyed spending time at the library and had the honor of serving as a judge for the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. For four years, as a judge, Charlotte read countless essays about the deserving individuals nominated to receive this prestigious award.
In her free time, Charlotte found pleasure in reading books and watching movies. She was a movie buff, with a particular fondness for the Hollywood classics of old. On a rainy day, you could find her reading a biography of someone she admired or brushing up on historical events. Often times she would do so with the company of a cat, as she was an animal lover who had many dear feline companions over the years. Charlotte had valued friends and enjoyed traveling. She also remained in close contact with her treasured late aunt, Marianne (Masino) Cercone.
Beloved sister of Joan L. Harmening, and her late husband Robert, of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Richard C. Ollis, and his wife Helen, of Walpole, and Charles E. Ollis of Foxborough.
Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Charlotte's Visitation on Thursday, March 28th, 2024, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery on Kendall Street in Walpole.
