Charles E. Ollis

July 8, 1917 — July 24, 2008

Charles E. Ollis age 91 years died in the Caritas Norwood Hospital on Thursday, July 24, 2008. He was born on July 8, 1917 in Boston, Massachusetts to his parents Irving H. & Margaret (Murphy) Ollis. After graduating high school Mr. Ollis entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II, where he served as his ships barber. He had been living in Walpole since 1963 moving here from Norwood.

Mr. Ollis worked in the maintaince department at both Bird and Sons in Walpole, Massachusetts and Analog Devices in Norwood, Massachusetts.

He belonged to the American Legion Norwood Post.

Mr. Ollis enjoyed music including Big Band, Irish, and Country music, photography, and automobiles.

As a child he attended the Lincoln Settlement House which taught him about the outdoors and camping, these lessons carried through his entire life. Josephine and he would travel to fulfill their passion of Ballroom Dancing.

Most especially Mr. Ollis loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Beloved husband of Josephine E. (Masino) Ollis. Loving father of Joan L. and her husband Robert J. Harmening of Wake Forest, NC, Charlotte J. Oles of Canton, Richard C. and his wife Helen A. Ollis of Walpole, and Charles E. Ollis of Foxboro. Cherished grandfather of Robert C. and his wife Martha Harmening of Wake Forest, NC, Lorraine J. and her husband James Chapin of Wake Forest, NC, and Colleen M. and Carl Larsen of Raleigh, NC, Rachel A. Ollis of LA, CA, Richard A. Ollis of Walpole, Ryan A. Ollis of Walpole, and Russell A. Ollis of Walpole. Cherished great grandfather of Ryan Chapin, Parker Chapin, Robert Harmening, and Rebekah Harmening. Brother of the late Mathias Ollis, Richard Ollis and Peggy O'Brien. Sister in law of Marianne Cercone of Walpole. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Saint Catherine's Church Washington Street (Route 1A) in Norwood on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 10AM. Visiting hours are Sunday, July 27, 2008 from 4-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment is in Maple Grove Cemetery Walpole.
