Charles J. Morris

March 21, 1922 — January 22, 2018

Charles J. Morris, age 95, passed away peacefully in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Monday, January 22, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Charlestown, Massachusetts on March 21, 1922, he was the son of the late Nelson J. and Catherine B. (Kane) Morris. He spent his early years in Charlestown before graduating from Revere High School with the Class of 1940. After graduation, Charles began working at Forbes, a printing company.

In 1942 he enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, proudly serving his country during World War II. He served in both the Asiatic Pacific Theater as well as the European Theater of Operations. Charles was honorably discharged in December of 1945, after earning the rank of Boatswain's Mate First Class.

Upon his return home from the Navy, Charles found work first with New England Telephone & Telegraph and then with Buck Printing in Boston. He met his wife to be, Claire Carty, and they were married in 1948. The young couple made their home together in Woburn before settling in Walpole in 1960. They were active members of St. Mary's Church in East Walpole and later of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Charles spent most of his working life with Alumabilt, Inc in Newton, and retired in 1986.

Throughout his life, Charles enjoyed the game of golf. He was a member of Heather Hill Country Club for many years and especially enjoyed an annual Spring trip to South Carolina to golf with his friends from work. In his later years, Charles could always be found cheering for his favorite football team, The Walpole Rebels, attending all of their home games. He and his wife enjoyed numerous cruises and a very memorable trip to Rome and Greece. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed making furniture, clocks and dollhouses as well as creating scale models of the US Naval Ships on which he served.
