Charles W. Daly, Jr, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 20th at Boston Medical Center. He was the son of the late Hazel (Duby) Daly and the late Charles W. Daly, Sr.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth (Dailey), with whom he shared 71 years of a loving and devoted marriage.
He was the loving father of Ruth Geddes and her husband David of Seekonk, Katherine McClallen and her husband Howard of Belmont, Jane Anderson and her husband Russell of Norwell, Charles Daly III and his wife Tina of Stoughton, Anne Beverly and her husband David of Lunenburg, Ellen Wilbar and her husband Shane of Foxboro, Susan Rossi and her late husband Michael of Cumberland, RI, Carol Hunt and her husband Paul of Bow, NH, Nancy Daly of Brighton, and the late Marie Barker and her late husband John.
Cherished grandfather of Carol, Catherine, Kristina, Jeffrey, Charles IV, Timothy, Katrina, Brian, Kevin, Sierra, Holly, Christopher, Sean, Kelly, Heather, and Remilia; great-granddaughters Amara, Lyra, Willow and Emmarie.
Charles was the beloved brother of J. Fabian, Gordon, Claire Granville, and Frank, and the late Lucy Lee, Eugene, Walter, Robert, Stephen, Geraldine, Norman, and Dorothy Mitchell. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and cherished friends and neighbors.
After graduating from BC High, Charles joined the Navy and was active during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Boston College in 1952 and returned to the Navy, retiring in 1973 from the Navy Reserves as a Commander. Charles worked in advertising for NYNEX for 40 years. In his retirement he worked as a certified counselor with Norcap, offering hope and guidance to many.
Charles’ life was devoted to his faith and family. He and Ruth enjoyed many years of traveling and spending time at home with their large family. He was very proud of his nine daughters and one son. He was always delighted to welcome new grandchildren and great grandchildren, who would always bring a smile to his face. His family was everything to him.
Although he’ll be dearly missed, his loved ones feel blessed to have had him in their lives for so long.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Charles’ visitation on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 4 to 7 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 11:00 am, with interment to follow at Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
