Mr. Charles Louis Brassil age 82 years died in the Caritas Norwood Hospital on Sunday Afternoon, August 19th, 2007. Born in Boston, the son of the late George and Mary (Brown) Brassil. He was raised in Brighton and graduated from Brighton High School, Class of 1942. He entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II. He was a Combat Engineer in both the European and Pacific Theatres. Upon his return home he entered Staley College in Brookline.
Mr. Brassil worked at Raytheon Labs in Waltham for over 20 years as a production supervisor. He left there and opened the C-Cap Program at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton. He was a counselor there until 1987. He also sponsored legislation to move alcohol from the crimial side to the treatable side, working through the state and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
He has been a resident of Walpole for the past 31 years.
He is still active as the Executive Secretary of the Allston Board of Trade, Walpole Town Meeting Member, Walpole Finance Committee, Walpole Board of Registrars, Prison Advisory Committee, and numerous Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Organizations. A member of the Norwood D.A.V. Chapter 90 , the VFW, and the 166th Combat Engineers. Mr. Brassil worked for many hours to create, fund, and make the MIA/POW Monument at the Massachusetts National Cemetery a reality. As well as the Veterans Memorial in the Town of Walpole.
Beloved husband of Claire M. (Hourihan) Brassil Loving father of Paul W. and his wife Karen Brassil of Medfield, Kathleen and her husband Anthony Magro of Sharon, Jane and her husband Alan Brown of N. Attleboro, Charles L. Brassil, Jr. of Cumberland, RI and the late Jerome Brassil Cherished grandfather of 11 Brother of the late Robert Brassil and the late Jean White.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at the Blesssed Sacrament Church East St (Rt 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Thursday Morning, August 23rd, 2007 @ 10AM. Visiting hours are Wednesday Afternoon from 3PM to 7PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment Mount Benedict Cemetery Boston .
