Celia M. (Farinacci) Davino, age 93, passed away on April 17, 2015 at the Maple Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts on June 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Concetta (Codianni) Farinacci. She graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1939. During her school years, Celia worked at the Elite Theater in Walpole, and, after graduation, she took a position at the Registry of Deeds in Dedham.
In November of 1941, during her sister's wedding in Waterbury, Connecticut, the groom's brother, Anthony Davino, asked if Celia would like to dance with him. During that dance, Celia Farinacci and Tony Davino fell in love. Tony was called away to serve his country during World War II, and Celia, wanting to support the war effort at home, went to work at Kendall Mills in Walpole. The war kept them apart for over four years, but on June 22, 1946, they married and settled in Walpole, where together they raised their five daughters. Over the years, Celia and Tony were also the foster parents of over a dozen children through Catholic Charities.
As a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole, Celia was a member of the Ladies' Sodality and volunteered her time teaching religious education classes. In addition, she was a kindergarten teacher's aide at Blessed Sacrament School, before taking a position as an aide in the Town of Walpole Public School System. She spent many of her summers volunteering as a "Camp Mother" for SNARC Summer Day Camps. She returned to Kendall Mills for a short time in the 1960's and also worked at Marad's in Walpole.
Celia, along with her husband Tony, started collecting, repairing, displaying, and selling antique clocks in the early 1960's. They also began attending estate sales searching for treasures. They shared a passion for setting up tables to sell these items at various flea markets and yard sales. Celia and Tony made many dear friends in their travels.
Celia's true passion, though, was her loving family. She enjoyed cooking for them, telling wonderful stories of her childhood, and listening to her daughters play the piano for family and friends.
Beloved wife of the late Anthony R. Davino.
Loving mother of Tina and her husband Roy Lee of Walpole, Dorene and her husband Eric Michelson of Walpole, Mary and her husband Selden Crocker of Kennebunk, Maine, Barbara Davino of Raynham, and the late Annette Davino. Cherished grandmother of Roy, Richard, Robert, Meredith, Jason, Jarod, Kyle and Brett. Devoted great grandmother of nine. Sister of the late Filomena DiNicola, the late Ann Davino, the late Frank Farinacci, and the late Tony Farinacci.
