Carla C. Wild

Carla C. (Cooke) Wild passed away on Monday, October 25, 2010. Born in Putnam, Connecticut on June 12, 1932, she was the daughter of Oscar & Isabella (Howard) Cooke. She grew up in Brooklyn, Connecticut and graduated from Killingly High School, Danielson, Connecticut in 1950. She graduated from the Traphagen School of Fashion Design, in New York City. She was employed by G. Fox and designed and made women's clothing.

Carla and Philip were married in 1953 and after enjoying time as a young Navy couple, they settled in Walpole in 1957 to raise their family. She was an active member of the United Church in Walpole, including service as a Deacon. She served on a Visiting Nurse committee and other committees in town. She and her husband worked together restoring and furnishing their historic home. She also enjoyed gardening in Walpole and Falmouth. During winters on Captiva Island, she became an avid sheller, walking the beach and collecting shells. She used them in lamps, tabletops, and wreaths. During summers in Falmouth, she enjoyed being on Nantucket Sound. Always devoted to her family, she found great pleasure sharing all of this with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Beloved wife of Philip A. Wild. Loving mother of Karen W. and her husband Philip Knobel of Easton, Keith A. and his wife LeeAnne Wild of Halifax, Col Kevin H. Wild, USMC and his wife Katherine Aldrich of Arlington, VA, and Kimberly A. Wild and her husband John K. Lago of Springfield, VA. Cherished grandmother of Max W. Knobel, Philip A. Wild, Robert E. Wild, Jake K. Lago, and Ayden T. Wild. Sister of Wayne L. Cooke of Sturbridge.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Memorial Service in the United Church in Walpole, 30 Common St. Walpole on Saturday, Nov 6, 2010, at 2PM. Visiting hours are omitted. Interment is private. Memorial donations may be made to Walpole Area VNA, P. O. Box 252, Walpole, MA 02081 or the Jimmy Fund.
