Mrs. Beatrice R. (Florist) Brown age 87 years died in the Golden Living Nursing Facility in Attleboro, Massachusetts on Thursday, April 23, 2009. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on April 3, 1922 , the daughter of Hanson F. and Henrietta (Schaier) Florist. She graduated from Foxborough High School with the Class of 1940. Mrs. Brown balanced taking care of her family and being a writer.
Mrs. Brown was an accomplished writer, having won many awards for her poetry. a listing of her awards: Five Golden Poets Awards 1987,1988, 1989, 1990 & 1991; Three Golden Poet Trophies: 1987, 1988, 1989; Twenty Three Awards of Merit, Seven Poetic Achievement Award Plaques, her inclusion in 1990, for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry in Who's Who; in which she appeared in 1988 and 1991. She was published in Great American Poetry Anthology 1988, The American Poetry Anthology 1988, The Golden Treasury of Great Poems 1989, The World Treasury of Great Poems 1989, and Best New Poets 1986, 1988 and 1989. Her poems have appeared in the Norwood Times and the Foxboro Reporter. Mrs. Brown has her poem included in "Poems That Will Live Forever" protected in the Pegasus Time Capsule, home of the World of Poetry Hall of Fame a'" to be opened October 1st, 2091. She had also written a song, "Revival" that was accepted by George Liberace in 1976.
A member of the Friends of the Walpole Public Library and the Foxborough Public Library. She enjoyed gardening , her flower gardens and vegetable gardens. Mrs. Brown took a lot of her inspiration from the great outdoors.
Beloved mother of Gordon L. and his wife Denise Brown of Farmington, New Hampshire and Beverly A. and her husband Gordon Ross of Norfolk. Cherished grandmother of Gordon Ross, Ronald Ross, Edward Brown, Jimmy Brown, and Paul Brown. Sister of the late Henrietta Armstrong, Marion Ingraham, Elizabeth Wenstrom, Mildred Coffin, Madaline Taggart, and Milton Florest. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service that will be held in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole on Tuesday, April 28th, 2009, at 10AM. Visiting hours are Monday, April 27th, 2009 from 4-7PM. Interment is in Highland Cemetery Norwood, Massachusetts.
