Barbara Ann Simpson

February 13, 1936 — September 1, 2017

Barbara Ann (Sameski) Simpson passed away suddenly on September 1, 2017 at the age of 81. She is survived by her two children, Paul J. Simpson of Ashaway, RI and Christine B. Simpson of Walpole, who were at her side when she died.

Barbara was born to Michael J. and Sophie F. (Wieliczka) Sameski of Norwood on February 13, 1936 at Norwood Hospital. She was sister to the late Michael J. Sameski III of West Roxbury. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Joseph V. Simpson of Walpole, in 1998.

She will be remembered by those who knew her as a caring and giving person who had a sharp sense of style and a keen eye for beauty. Some would term her a true "fashionista." She certainly was a long-time patron of the arts and staunch supporter of Boston's Museum of Fine Arts.

After many long years working at Metal Bellows in Sharon, MA, Barbara spent her retirement years doing what she loved best-gardening, attending the symphony, wandering through museums and art galleries, volunteering at the Old Post Road Elementary School in Walpole, enjoying friendships and traveling the world with her children.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors as well as by all whose lives were touched by her generosity and good humor.

A funeral mass will be celebrated by Father John Tokaz, a family friend, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole, on Saturday, September 9th at 10 am. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted and the interment will be a private affair at a later date. Funeral arrangements were made by the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home Walpole. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center at Brigham and Women's Hospital, 116 Huntington Avenue, Boston MA 02116. To do so make checks payable to Brigham and Women's Hospital, in the memo area write Shapiro Cardiovascular Center and address your envelope to the Development Office on the 3d floor.
