Barbara S. Golding

Mrs. Barbara Gould (Shufelt) Golding, age 92, of Walpole, Massachusetts died on Friday, May 2, 2014. Born in Walpole on April 12, 1922, Barbara was the daughter of Bruce W. and Ruth J. (Gould) Shufelt. Barbara graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1939 along with her husband of 58 years, the late Robert E. Golding.

Barbara was a hairdresser and also worked as a bookkeeper at Walpole Woodworkers. A proud life-long resident of Walpole, Barbara also spent many happy days with family and friends near the beach at her homes in Osterville, MA and St. Pete Beach, FL. Barbara’s favorite pastimes included collecting shells on the beach, reading, watching the Red Sox, playing cards and Scrabble, and most of all entertaining family and friends.   

Loving mother of the late Robert E. Golding, Jr. and his wife Penelope Golding of Ridge Manor, FL; the late William P. “Scott” Golding and his wife Betty Anne of Walpole, MA; and Sarah E. Amico and her husband Denis of Plainville, MA. Cherished grandmother of Courtney G. Leonard and her husband Steve, Heather A. Golding, William P. “Scott” Golding, Jr. and his wife Anne L. Warren, Joshua W. Golding, Nathan G. Amico, and Mark R. Amico. Great grandmother of Dylan R. and Cole P. Leonard, and William P. III and Charles W. Golding. Sister of the late Bruce Shufelt and the late Frank Shufelt.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a graveside ceremony on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11AM at Terrace Hill Cemetery on Washington Street in South Walpole, MA. Memorial donations may be made to The Friends of the Walpole Public Library, 143 School Street, Walpole MA 02081.
