Barbara A. (Titus) Galasso, age 76 years died in the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Harold B. and Mildred (Terravecchia) Titus. She graduated from Roslindale High School with the class of 1956 and went on to graduated from Saint Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing with the class of 1958. Barbara proudly served her country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force Reserve in Boston. She has been a resident of Walpole for the past 52 years moving from Boston.
Barbara was a Registered Nursing, working for Children's Hospital in Boston for 8 years. She retired in 1973 to raise her family.
She was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America, she served as a Den Mother and later served on the Board of Directors of the Old Colony Council. She was awarded the Silver Beaver in 1975 and the Silver Antelope in 1982 for her services with the youth.
Barbara volunteered her time with many organizations. She began as a volunteer at the Blessed Sacrament School in Walpole and continued to volunteer at Xaverian Brothers High School for both Bingo and Craft Fairs. She went on to become a Member of the Board of Directors at Xaverian. In addition she volunteered at many blood drives, including ones hosted by the American Red Cross and the Walpole Area Visiting Nurses Association. She later became a Member of the Board of Directors for the Walpole Area VNA.
Beloved wife of Francis M. "Frank" Galasso. Loving mother of Christopher M. Galasso of Walpole and Michael F. Galasso of Wrentham. Sister of the late Margarita Titus Askew. Cherished aunt of Sandra Askew Atenasio of NJ and Charlene Askew Conway of Lakeville.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Barbara's Life Celebration on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 4-8 PM and Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 9-10 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church 10 Diamond Street Walpole on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, MA 02472.
