Barbara Ann Connolly

Barbara Ann (Meehan) Connolly, age 87, passed away in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Reardon) Meehan. She was raised in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School with the Class of 1948. After graduation, Barbara took a position with the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, working in the library.

Barbara married her husband, Paul Francis Connolly, on February 22, 1952 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Boston. The young couple made their home together in Jamaica Plain, where they welcomed their first two children, Stephen and Janet. Barbara transitioned into the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family. In the Fall of 1960, Barbara and Paul moved their family to Walpole, Massachusetts, where they welcomed their third child, Karen. Barbara's love for the beach led the family to purchase a vacation home in Hyannis on Cape Cod and Barbara took full advantage, spending countless hours on Craigville Beach and later Dowses Beach in the summer months.

After Paul's untimely passing, Barbara returned to work, taking a position with the Walpole Times. She later retired from the Wrentham State School.

Barbara married her second husband, Edward C. McFarland, on February 14, 1997. Together, they enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in Florida. Back at home, Barbara was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole, participating in the weekly Bible Study with friends. She was also a dedicated member of the Walpole Council on Aging and enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Senior Center. Barbara was a voracious reader and always kept a good book by her side. Most of all, Barbara loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Being surrounded by those she loved brought her much joy.

Loving mother of Stephen Connolly and the late Susan Glencross Connolly of Wrentham, Janet Connolly and Michael Nolf of Marstons Mills, and Karen Nikolova and Charlie Nikolov of Walpole.
Cherished grandmother of Amy Johnson, Sarah Melara, Melissa Elliott, Paul Connolly, Sierra Nolf, and James DeCelle, Jr. and great grandmother of Madison, Joannah, Mercedes, and Thomas.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Barbara's Life Celebration on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
