Armand J. DuBois

August 11, 1919 — July 26, 2020

Armand J. DuBois, age 100, of Walpole passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, July 26th, 2020. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire on August 11th, 1919, he was the son of the late Alfred and Delia (Russell) DuBois. He was raised in Manchester during the Great Depression, caring for his mother, and helping to support his family. He moved to Hyde Park with his sister, where he worked in construction.

While he was repairing a home, he met his wife, Mary Fiorenza. The pair married in Boston on January 18th, 1942. A week after his marriage, Armand left to serve in WWII. Armand earned the rank of Corporal in the U.S. Army. He was a P.O.W. and earned himself a Purple Heart for his bravery. Armand was honorably discharged six years after his deployment and returned home. He started to work for the railroad in the Readville Yards where he remained until 1960 before starting a position for the United States Postal Service as a bulk mail transport driver until his retirement in 1983.

After he retired, Armand joined the P.O.W. group at the VFW Post 2498 in Needham. He also could be found volunteering at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury serving coffee to patients. He was famous for his chocolate cake and his brownies.

Despite being a quiet man, Armand’s grandchildren were drawn to him, loving the man who they knew could do almost anything. He was a lover of cards and board games, like Trouble. Armand was a Jack of All Trades and a hardworking man who would do anything for his family.

Beloved husband of the late Mary D. (Fiorenza) DuBois.
Loving father of Virginia Corcoran and her husband Fred of Walpole, Jeanne M. Leydon of Bridgewater and Joseph A. DuBois of Avon.
Cherished grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Brother of the late Mary LaCroix and the late Lucien DuBois.

As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Armand’s funeral services will be private.  Interment will take place in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boston DAV National Service Office, JFK Federal Building, Room 1575B, 15 New Sudbury Street, Boston, MA 02203 or Shriners Hospitals for Children at 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.  Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, Walpole.
