Antoinette (DeGregorio) Nicoletti, age 89, passed away peacefully in the Norwood Hospital on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Detroit, Michigan on August 14, 1927, she was the youngest of 8 children born to Julius and Josephine (Ferrera) DeGregorio.
In the early 1940s, Antoinette met a young man by the name of Rudolph P. Nicoletti, who was serving his country in the US Navy. She and Rudy traveled back to his hometown of Berlin, New Hampshire to visit his family and stayed there together for a month. After her return home to Michigan, Rudy chased after her and proposed marriage. At the young age of 19, Antoinette married Rudy in Detroit, honeymooning on their way back to Berlin, NH, where they made their home together. While living in New Hampshire, Antoinette and Rudy welcomed their two children, Rudy, Jr. and Mary Jane.
Antoinette and Rudy moved to Danielson, Connecticut in 1960 and she took on the role of homemaker, raising and caring for her family, in addition to a part time position that she took with Idelwilde Chicken Farm. In 1965, Antoinette and Rudy settled in Norwood, Massachusetts. She began working at an aluminum factory, building doors and windows to help her children with college expenses, however as her family began to grow with the addition of grandchildren, she began the family's premiere babysitter.
Family meant everything to Antoinette, she treasured the time that she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She and Rudy had a beautiful lifelong commitment to one another, celebrating their 50th Anniversary with their children on a trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, and just this past August celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary.
