Anthony Richard Scena

Anthony Richard “Andy” Scena, age 66, passed away in the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts on Saturday, December 15, 2018.  Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on May 31, 1952, he was the son of the late Ernest J. Scena and Mary Alice (Pierce) Scena.  He was raised in Roslindale and attended the Theodore Parker School in West Roxbury.  After completing his formal education, his Aunt, Galinda Scena, continued tutoring him to improve his reading and writing skills.

 

Andy found work in the kitchen of the West Roxbury Veterans Administration Hospital, bringing food to the patients.  As an outgoing social man, he loved his job just as much as the patients and staff loved him.  He continued to make his home in Roslindale, spending a short time in West Roxbury before settling with his mother in Norwood.  In 1993, Andy moved to Cape Cod, making his home in Falmouth, where he volunteered at the Falmouth Hospital, and later moved with his sister to Florida.  While living in Florida, Andy enjoyed playing bocce with friends and touring his complex on his three wheeled cycle, interacting with everyone on his way.  In 2013, Andy returned to Massachusetts, settling in Norton with his sister and her family and most recently made his home in Wrentham. 

 

As a young man, Andy loved bowling in a league at the Park Street Lanes in West Roxbury.  He had a tremendous appetite and always looked forward to enjoying is brother’s meatballs.  Andy’s love for his family was strong, as a boy he loved horsing around with his three brothers, a tradition that continued recently in the way of a thumb wrestling competition.  He was very grateful for the love that his sister showed him over the years, ensuring he was well cared for.  Andy will be remembered as a kind hearted, positive man, who truly cared for his family.

 

Devoted son of the late Ernest J. Scena and Mary Alice (Pierce) Scena.

Loving brother of Robert Adam Scena and his wife Carmella of North Falmouth, Ernest Joseph Scena, Jr. and his wife Claire of Punta Gorda, Florida, Victor H. Scena and his wife Karen of Walpole, and the late Elizabeth Grassia and her husband Frank. 

Cherished uncle of Kimberly Palmer, Ingrid Williams, Vicki Scena, Robert Scena, Adam Scena, Michael Scena, Carly Scena, Joseph Scena, Robert Scena, Victor Scena, and Stephanie Scena. 

 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Andy’s Life Celebration on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM and Friday, December 21, 2018 from 9 to 9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow in the Gardens of Gethsemane in West Roxbury.
