Anthony Joseph Grimm, age 93, passed away peacefully in the Charlwell House in Norwood, Massachusetts on Sunday, May 17, 2015. Born in Budapest, Hungary on August 14, 1921, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Szaraz) Grimm. Anthony was raised and educated in Hungary. He owned and operated his own scientific glass blowing company, however after World War II, the Russian Communist Party took over the Hungarian Government and his company and assets became property of the state. This, along with the taking of his father in law, prompted him to become a Freedom Fighter against the Communist Regime as a part of the Worker's Revolution. As a recently married man and with a young daughter, Anthony came to the United States of America to start a new life for his family in 1956. He settled, initially, in Cambridge where he worked for Boston Scientific before moving to Roslindale and later to West Roxbury.
In 1959, he took a position as a scientific glass blower with the New England Nuclear / DuPont Corporation and he settled in Norwood, Massachusetts in 1961. Anthony was responsible for building the apparatus that could isolate radioisotopes for nuclear medicine. He retired from DuPont in 1984, after 25 years of dedicated service and in 1999, Anthony and his wife Angela moved to Walpole, Massachusetts.
As an avid golfer, Anthony enjoyed playing with his co workers in the DuPont Company Golf League. He was a life long fan of ice hockey and enjoyed following the Boston Bruins. He also volunteered his time with the Norwood Nuggets Youth Hockey Program, serving as both a booster and manager. In addition to hockey, he enjoyed gardening and spending time at the beach.
Anthony was a loving and devoted grandfather to his 6 grandchildren, he loved spending time with them and enjoyed watching their athletic events.
Beloved husband of the late Angela (Buczi) Grimm.
Loving father of Yvette and her husband Dan Shakespeare of Walpole and James and his wife Mary Beth Grimm of Wellesley.
Cherished grandfather of A.J., Ryan, Meagan Grimm of Wellesley, Matthew, Michael and Sean Shakespeare of Walpole.
