Anthony John Amendola, age 82, died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Born in Newton, Massachusetts on April 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Dr. Alfred and Mary (McGovern) Amendola of Newton. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Nagle) Amendola to whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Devoted father of Peter and Katherine Amendola of Franklin, Mary and David Marley of Weymouth, Katherine and Steven Glenzel of Hingham and Susan Carr of Millis. Cherished and loving Grandfather of Graham, Allison, Abigail, Julia, Pete, Matthew, Johanna and Maggie and great-grandfather of Dominic. Brother of Joan Wheaton of Billerica and Jacqueline D’Angelo of Newton and the late Alfred and Paul Amendola.

Anthony graduated from the New York Military Academy with the class of 1950, before serving his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1954 as a Corporal. He later attended Northeastern University. He has been a resident of Walpole, where he was a member of the Italian American Club, for the past 51 years moving from Easton.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hour on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 10:30 -11:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 12 Noon. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Walpole VNA, 55 W St # 3, Walpole, MA 02081.
