Betty passed away quietly Saturday, March 30 at her daughter's home with her children by her side. She struggled bravely with both Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson Disease. Betty was the daughter of the late Frank D., late Anna (Scully) and the late Mary (Donovan) Shea from Popponesset. Betty was the sister of the late Frank X. Shea and his wife Sue Shea of Vermont, her sister Dorothea and her husband William T Hogan, Sr. from Naples, Florida. Betty was the wife for 56 years to the late J. Philip Mitchell, Sr. of Walpole, Pocasset and Naples Florida. Our mother will be missed by her five children, Joseph (Jay) Mitchell, Jr. and his wife Beth Everett from Chestnut Hill and Pocasset, Marleen Mitchell of Walpole and her husband John Connelly, Anne Mitchell of San Francisco, Janet and her husband Rick Sy from Walpole and Frank Mitchell and his wife Monique from Wellesley and Naples Florida. Before her marriage to Phil, Betty graduated from Emmanuel class of 1954. Betty was the Social Worker and Activities Director for Victoria Rest Haven in Norwood for twenty six years. She was Grammy to Katherine Bugbee of Boston, Bryana Mitchell of Brooklyn NY, Caitlin Mitchell of Salem VA, Andrew, Francis and Philip Sy all of Walpole, Joseph III and Grace Mitchell both of Chestnut Hill, Liam Connelly of Walpole and Emma and Elizabeth Mitchell of Wellesley, and two great granddaughters, Mary and Anne Bugbee. Besides enjoying golf and floral design, she treasured the laughs and time spent with wonderful friends. She showcased her talent in the preservation and construction of the family home, a former Captain William Barlows residents, which was enjoyed by her, her family and many friends for decades. Betty's love for her nieces and nephews was extensive and often showed the pride she had in each one of them. We have been blessed to have had a wonderful mother and friend in our life.
