Anita G. Sullivan

September 3, 1921 — January 8, 2014

Anita G. (Gulla) Sullivan, age 92 years, died in the Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on September 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose (Locarno) Gulla. She graduated from Norwood High School with the class of 1939.

She was employed by various organizations throughout her lifetime. They included Norwood Hospital, Birchard's, UR Distributing, and Barnett Weiner Company. In addition, she was the President of BOSS (Business Office Support Services) serving the Walpole Area and worked with Sullivan Concrete, Frank's Hairstyling, Capliss Construction, and Walco.

Anita dedicated countless hours of service to those with special needs. She served on the board of Newton South Norfolk Department of Developmental Services for over 30 years, volunteered at the Wrentham Developmental Center, and served on the citizens' advisory board at HESSCO Elder Services. Her work with Family to Family culminated in the Boulet Settlement, requiring the state of Massachusetts to provide services to Medicaid eligible adults. This ruling ultimately helped thousands of families. In recent years, Anita volunteered as a teacher's aide at the Boyden School. Although she received many awards for her selfless work, her greatest joy was knowing that she made a difference in the lives of others.

Beloved wife of the late Richard G. "Woody" Sullivan. Loving mother of Mary S. Davis and her husband Dan M. Davis of Westminster, Vermont, Catherine Sullivan-Kropa and her husband William A. Kropa of Marblehead, Richard G. Sullivan, Jr. of Walpole, and Margaret R. Sullivan of Norfolk. Cherished grandmother of Dan and his wife Sara, Jonathan, and Katherine Davis; Rachel and Madeleine Kropa and great grandmother of Cailyn and Connor Davis. Sister of the late Perina A. Gallo, the late Rita R. Collins, the late Eleanor M. Amici, and the late Alfred S. Gulla. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
