Aniela (Tomczak) DiMartino, age 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at her home in Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Montlucon, France on November 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Janina (Kedzia) Tomczak. She was raised and educated in Montlucon, where she fell in love with her across the street neighbor, Mario DiMartino. They were married on January 19, 1957 and made their home together in Italy for a few years before returning to France, where they welcomed their first three children, Domenico, Silvia, and Lucio.
In 1965, Aniela and Mario immigrated to the United States of America, making their home in the Hyde Park area of Boston, Massachusetts, where they welcomed their fourth child, Ezio. Aniela took a position with the Village Manor Nursing Home in Hyde Park, working for several years until moving to Walpole, Massachusetts in 1979. Once she was settled in her home in Walpole, Aniela took a position with Heartland Food Warehouse, which went on to become Purity Supreme, and later Stop and Shop. She retired in 2001 after twenty-two years of dedicated service.
Throughout her life, Aniela loved to travel, taking several cruises through the Caribbean Islands. She also took many trips back to France and looked forward to hosting her friends from France at her home back in Walpole. As a wonderful hostess, Aniela prepared huge dinners for her family and friends to enjoy together and was known for her delicious cookies and desserts. While she spent countless hours in her kitchen, Aniela also loved spending time outdoors, caring for her many flower gardens. After her husband, Mario, passed in 2003, she applied her gardening skills to his vegetable garden, that she lovingly cared for. Most of all, Aniela was dedicated to her family and was delighted at the birth of her grandchildren. She was sure to attend all of their sporting events, dance recitals, and school functions over the years.
