Angelo "Andy" Manna

January 4, 1922 — April 5, 2017

Angelo J. "Andy" Manna, age 95, passed away in the Harrington House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walpole, Massachusetts on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Born in Dedham, Massachusetts on January 4, 1922, he was the son of the late Otino and Annie (Calello) Manna. He was raised on Whiting Avenue in Dedham and graduated from Dedham High School with the Class of 1941.

After graduation, Andy answered the call of his country, enlisting in the United States Army Air Force, proudly serving during World War II. He was stationed in Amarillo, Texas, and after receiving his basic training, Andy was promoted to Private First Class. Andy trained as an airplane technician, working on the B-24 Liberator. As the war progressed, he was assigned to the newest bomber, the B-29 Super Fortress. Andy was honorably discharged from the Army Air Force in February of 1946, but as a proud World War II Veteran, joined the local American Legion.

After his return from the service, Andy worked various jobs and met his charming wife, Elizabeth "Bette" Galloway. Andy began working as a corrections officer with the Norfolk County Sherriff's Department in 1955 and in 1959, he and Bette made their home together in Walpole. Andy retired from the Sherriff's Department in 1985, after 35 years of dedicated service.

Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth A. "Bette" (Galloway) Manna.
Devoted brother of the late Mary Sergi, Eleanor Brown, Flora Maxwell, Julia Velardo, Veronica Jones, and Dorothy Joyce.
Cherished uncle of seven nieces and three nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Andy's Life Celebration on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 8:30 - 9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Walpole Senior Center, c/o Walpole Council on Aging, 135 School Street, Walpole, MA 02081.
