Angeline C. (Pestana) Denny, age 88, passed away in the Norwood Hospital on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Born in Stoughton, Massachusetts on August 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Joaquina (Ferrara) Pestana. She was raised in Stoughton, where she attended parochial school. After the start of World War II, she left school and began working at the Corcoran Shoe Factory in Stoughton, aiding the war effort by making boots for the U.S. Armed Forces.
Angeline married her husband, Maurice M. Denny on August 29, 1950 in New London, Connecticut. While he was serving in the United States Navy, Angeline and Maurice lived on several military bases in the U.S. and abroad, prior to settling in Walpole to raise their young family. As her children grew older, Angeline would regularly assist her husband at his nursing home, The Denny House, in Norwood. They retired together in 1994.
Family was most important to Angeline, she cherished the time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. However she did make time to play an occasional game of bingo at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Beloved wife of the late Maurice Martin Denny.
Loving mother of Kathleen M. Collins of Walpole, David A. Denny of Walpole, Mary Jo Thompson of Florida, Patricia A. Sterritt of Norwood, and Jean F. Pritchard of Walpole.
Cherished grandmother of 10.
All services are private at the request of the family. Interment took place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole, MA 02081.
