Allan Boland Virtue

Allan Boland Virtue, age 93, passed away in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada on August 10, 1923, he was the son of the late Oliver James and Beatrice (Roy) Virtue. He was raised and educated in Canada. Allan married the love of his life, Rita MacNeil, on June 21, 1941, and shortly after enlisted in the Canadian Army, proudly serving during World War II. He was stationed in Italy, serving as a cook and was honorably discharged in 1945. Upon his return home to Canada, Allan continued serving in the Canadian Army Militia until his release in 1955, with the rank of Fusilier.

Allan and Rita immigrated to the United States of America in 1958, settling in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, Massachusetts. He quickly found work at the SCA Corporation. Allan moved his young family to Walpole, Massachusetts in 1966, where together he and Rita raised their children. While working at SCA, Allan quickly moved up the corporate ladder, earning the manager's position before he retired in 1985.

Allan enjoyed all sports and was an avid Red Sox fan. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids play hockey and would never miss a game.

Loving father of Mary "Faith" Goddard of Woburn, Allan Virtue and his wife Karen of San Diego, California, James Virtue and his wife Carol of Walpole, the late Daniel Virtue, and the late Bernadette Virtue.
Cherished grandfather of John, Glenn, Mark, Mandy, Michelle, Jennifer, Daniel, Jr., Laura, Andy, Anthony, Kathy, Eric, Kevin, Jordan, Victoria, and Drew and great grandfather of 23.
He was predeceased by all his siblings.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Allan's Life Celebration on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 4-8 PM and Friday, March 24, 2017 9-9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Allan's memory to benefit the Sharon House c/o Lifeworks, 789 Clappboard Tree Street, Westwood, MA 02090.
