Alice Hussey Squires, 91, of Walpole, formerly of Needham died in her home on February 23, 2011. Alice was born in Quincy on April 5, 1919. She graduated from Quincy High School in 1935 and Chandler Secretarial School in 1936. She served in the WAVES, WW II 1942-1945. She graduated from Simmons College in 1949.
She is survived by her husband Newell Dean Squires formerly of Winchester, MA who she married in 1950. Beloved and devoted mother of Newell Dean Squires, Jr. and his deceased wife Susan, of Caldwell, NJ; Elizabeth S. Wigon and her husband Jeremy of Topsfield; Anne C. Squires and her husband David Stokes of Cambridge; and Phyllis Squires Epstein and her husband Steven of Norwood. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Harry, Graham, Madeline, Isabelle, Michael and Elizabeth.
Alice was a former member and officer of the Charles River Valley Simmons Club; an active member of Epiphany Parish of Walpole; a Literacy Volunteer, and Hospice House volunteer.
A Christian burial service will be held at 10:30am on March 2 at the Epiphany Parish, On the Common at 62 Front Street, Walpole, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Washington National Cathedral Attn.: Development Office 3101 Wisconsin Ave., NW Washington, DC 20016-5098. Burial will be private. Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home Walpole.
